Uusikartano estate is located in Kalkkinen village, Asikkala. Kalkkinen is a small village of about 700 inhabitants around 150 km north from Helsinki.

The building group of the estate is located on a low hill on the border of a forest and a wide open field. The land area of the estate is 280 hectares.

The original name of Uusikartano was Paavola. It was one of the Kalkkinen village's old main estates, which had also been provincialized for the Schraffers and later served as a facility for officers.

Uusikartano estate has changed its ownership at least three times in the 19th century. In 1833 Captain Johan Wilhelm Cederblad and his wife Heldvig became the owners. After them, the estate was bought 1863 by Aron Thomaksenpoika Honkanen with his wife Helena. The owner of Iisakkila estate, Sipi Koskinen, then bought the estate and its buildings from Helena who was a widow in 1889-1890.

In 1973 the founder of Kemppi Oy, Mr. Martti Kemppi bought the Uusikartano estate. Right after the purchase he repaired all original buildings, built new and started agriculture business. Martti spent a lot of time with his wife Sylvia at the Uusikartano estate and developed it quite a lot. From 1979 he brought his company Kemppi Oy’s welding accessory production to the estate’s facilities. The production was in operation until 2016 and then it was moved to Lahti at the company headquarters.

Uusikartano estate consists of several buildings including the main building as well as agricultural, industrial, storage and staff buildings. From 1985 to 1999 the estate has also been home to Kemppi Stables Inc. horse breeding company. During that time there were more than 150 horses at the Uusikartano estate’s stables. Kemppi Stables Inc. was one of the biggest horse breeders in Finland.
